Sedalia, KY – Keri Dowdy is a fourth grade teacher at Sedalia Elementary School in Graves County and a Murray State University graduate. This year Dowdy is one of 86 teachers from across the nation receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The presidential award is the highest honor available to a kindergarten through 12th grade teacher. Dowdy will receive a citation signed by President Barack Obama and a ten thousand dollar award from the National Science Foundation. Angela Hatton speaks with Dowdy about the award and how she makes science interesting for her students.
