Schools Prepare for Swine Flu

By Angela Hatton

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Department of Education wants state school districts to be prepared if a case of swine flu is detected in one of their schools. No Kentucky school-age children have been diagnosed with the influenza. KDE Officials urge schools to have contingency plans in case they need to shut down temporarily due to a flu outbreak. Schools and child care facilities should also encourage students to wash hands frequently or use hand-sanitizer.
