The Savage Radley Launch Indiegogo Campaign for First Album

Matt Markgraf, WKMS

Rural western Kentucky band The Savage Radley were WKMS Battle of the Bands semi-finalists in 2014 and were the first band to play the WKMS Live Lunch series. Based in Murray, they have a blues, folk sound in the Delta-style. Otto Sharp and S. Knox Montgomery join Tracy Ross on Sounds Good to talk about their recently launched Indiegogo campaign for their first album, "Houses."

The Savage Radley have played together for four years and during that time have had some lineup changes, developed their sound and grew their fan-base playing in local venues around the region. They're ready to produce their first studio album, "Houses" from a shortlist of 17 songs, which they'll whittle down further for the final press.

Their Indiegogo campaign goal is $10,000, which will go to building a production team where everyone knows their role, production fees, mastering fees, studio musician fees, logistics, etc. With Indiegogo, they have 'flexible funding,' which means they'll get the money raised even if they don't make goal. Reaching for community support, they say, was the way to go because the extra money to produce an album would have been hard to come by even from playing gigs. Incentives range from a digital download of the album and handmade t-shirts, to a private concert and a special mention in the liner notes of the album.
