Roadways to worsen as temps drop

By Rose Krzton-Presson

Murray, KY – Today's snowfall has worsened driving conditions in parts of our region. Kentucky Transportation official Keith Todd says trucks have been out in Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman, Fulton, and Lyon Counties salting bridges and overpasses. Todd says pavement temperatures have stayed above freezing so far today, but he expects those temperatures to drop soon and cause some slick spots later today.

"I understand on the back side of the storm, radar is indicating there's a pretty good area of snow that may clip some of our counties as it comes around later this afternoon and evening. So we're keeping an eye on that through the day today."

Todd urges motorists to slow down, keep headlights on, and account for decreased visibility as the afternoon progresses. In light of the snow conditions, Hopkins County Schools will close 2 hours early today and has canceled after-school care and events.
