UPDATE: 10 a.m.

A portion of US 641 south is still blocked as crews work to unload 40,000 pounds of rice in order to rollover an overturned semi.

A detour through the area has been established.

7:40 a.m.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office is working to remove a semi truck that overturned this morning on US Hwy 641 just north of Hazel, Ky.

The CCSO says initial information shows that a semi truck carrying 40,000 lbs of dry rice was traveling north on 641 when it left the road and overturned.  The rice will have to removed from the trailer and loaded into another before the semi can be removed from the scene.

As of 7:40am, US 641 is blocked for thru traffic from Midway Rd. to State Line Rd. in Hazel.

The semi tractor had two occupants.  The passenger was transported to Murray Calloway County Hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.
