Reidland-Farley Has No Luck Selling Boat

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – The Reidland-Farley Fire Department has had no luck selling their quarter-million dollar fire boat and that may mean the McCracken County outfit will have to pass on buying a ladder truck. The truck is retiring from service from the Paducah Fire Department and acquiring it could mean Reidland-Farley's service rating would go up, lowering area property rates. The Paducah Sun reports Reidland-Farley board members are hesitant to purchase new equipment because public perception of the department is uneasy after the botched purchase of the fire boat, accounting irregularities and the ongoing investigation of suspended Chief Richard Tapp. The board is expected to formally remove Tapp in a hearing next week.
