Reidland-Farley Fire Delays Boat Payment

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – The Reidland-Farley fire department has hammered out a deal to delay payment for a rescue boat it purchased before the federal grant that would pay for it was finalized. The boat manufacturer has not set a deadline or indicated it would charge any interest or penalty for the delay. The fire department was expected to make a payment of over a quarter million dollars yesterday. Paducah grant administrator David Frost tells the Paducah Sun in many cases, grant funds can't be used for items purchased before the application is finalized. If the federal money is denied, the fire department will be unable to pay for the boat.
