The City of Paducah is hoping to set a record attendance at the Spring American Quilter’s Society QuiltWeek beginning Wednesday. More than 32,000 visitors are expected to converge in Paducah for the biannual American Quilter’s Society QuiltWeek.

Some 700 quilts from 43 states and 15 countries will be on display. A feature exhibit will showcase a 9-foot-tall and 30-foot-wide quilt by award-winning quilter Victoria Findlay Wolfe.

AQS is partnering with the Paducah School of Art and Design to show quilts from European and Middle Eastern countries. Classes include dying fabric, quilt appraisal, painting, piecing and how to machine a quilt at home.

The ‘Best in Show’ and other awards will be announced Tuesday.

The event runs April 26-29th in the convention center, expo center and dome pavilion.

A second AQS QuiltWeek will be held in Paducah in September.
