Rand Paul Says He's Not Worried About Growing Number Of Presidential Candidates

Presidential candidate and Republican U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky made a stop in the Russell Neighborhood in West Louisville Monday.

He talked to children at the Plymouth Community Renewal Center about his plans to help struggling neighborhoods in the country.

Paul also talked about the growing number of challengers for the Republican presidential nomination. He says his views on privacy and foreign policy set him apart from the crowded field.

"Those are positions that I think allow me to have a distinctive spot and really have less problem with overall competition than many of the others," Paul said.

Paul also says he won’t be able to make it to the Fancy Farm Picnic next month.  He says he will continue campaigning in New Hampshire during the state’s big political event.

During his stop in West Louisville Monday, Paul said he thinks it’s a good thing for the party to have a lot of people running for the Republican nomination.

"And I think we have a young and very diverse field. So, I think it’s probably good. It shows that we have a lot of potential candidates. It’s probably good for us," Paul said.

His stop at the Plymouth Community Renewal Center is part of Paul’s ongoing minority outreach campaign strategy.
