U.S. Sen. Rand Paul will be ?in Paducah Tuesday performing pro bono cataract surgeries.
Before being elected to the Senate in 2010, ?the likely 2016 presidential candidate ?was a practicing opthamologist. When he was in Paducah last summer performing free surgeries, Paul’s communications director told Politico that the senator does the surgeries about four or five times a year to keep his skills as an eye surgeon honed.
This is at least the fourth occasion since May 2012 that Paul will perform the surgeries with the assistance of Dr. Barbara Bowers. Paul will also make an appearance at the groundbreaking of Bowers' new office Tuesday, alongside Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler.
