Quinn Signs Environmentally Friendly Bills

By AP

Springfield, IL – Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has signed legislation that he says will benefit the environment. Quinn signed a bill yesterday prohibiting health care institutions from flushing medicines that haven't been used into public wastewater systems. Any violators would have to pay a fine. Another bill tracks how much water is used by high capacity wells throughout Illinois and requires anyone who wants to develop a well to notify the local Soil and Water Conservation District. Quinn also signed legislation that urges state agencies to hire services or buy supplies that are more environmentally friendly.
