Quilting Spotlight: AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah
It's that time of year! The birds are singing, the flowers are (sort of) blooming, and... the quilters are coming! We have so many wonderful underwriters that take part in the Paducah QuiltWeek festivities, and today we thank the American Quilter's Society, The National Quilt Museum, and the Yeiser Art Center for bringing great works of art to the region and sharing in their support of WKMS.
The dazzling world of quilting is bursting at the seams with the fabrics, colors, and exquisite designs that will come alive with 30,000 quilters at the Paducah-McCracken County Convention & Expo Center next week. 2014 is a celebration of 30 unforgettable years of quilting - so if you have never experienced an AQS QuiltWeek, this is the year to do it! From workshops taught by quilting masters to the Merchant Mall featuring 400 vendor booths to quilting displays from around the world, the expo is a celebration of quilting.
In addition to the expo, art appreciators can visit the Distortion exhibit at the National Quilt Museum, featuring the winners of the annual International European Patchwork Contest. The National Quilt Museum is the only museum in the United States to host this touring exhibit! Their full QuiltWeek schedule, including the live quilt auction can be found here (pdf).
And as icing on the cake, the Yeiser Art Center showcases the 2014 Fantastic Fibers exhibition that will take you on a journey from the familiar to the unconventional. See innovative uses of fibers and textures that give new meaning to the genre of fiber arts. Celebrate quilting in Paducah this year April 23-26!
