Pool Levels In Kentucky and Barkley Lake Rise to Ease Flooding Conditions by Rivers

The National Weather Service in Paducah is extending the flood warning for most of west Kentucky until 11:30 Saturday morning.

Both dams at Kentucky and Barkley Lakes are tapering off releases as widespread flooding continues across the region. Because of this, the pool levels on both lakes will continue to rise over the next couple of days.

Levels Friday morning were around 359 feet. Projections have those levels continuing to rise up to 366 feet by early next week. People who have property or campers along the lakes should prepare for these elevated levels.

People should also remain alert and aware of elevated back water levels, especially along the Clarks River. NWS says the Ohio River will begin cresting in Paducah over the weekend and will hold steady for several days.
