The Performance Funding Work Group meets in Frankfort Wednesday to establish recommendations for a portion of higher education state appropriation.
The agenda includes discussion of funding model options: rates and volumes, adjustments for small schools and degree production. The group consists of state government representatives, university and college presidents and president of the Council on Postsecondary Education.
This is the second of three meetings. The first was in July and the third is scheduled for October 5. The group has until December 1 to present their findings to the legislative committee to take to the General Assembly to be enacted on.
A performance-based funding model goes into effect July 1, 2017.
Murray State University President Bob Davies has said some schools want an emphasis on the number of student enrollment and graduation and others, like MSU prefer a quality measurement involving rates.
