Paul Touts Crop Insurance, Immigration Reform to Farmers

J. Tyler Franklin/WFPL News

Rand Paul told Kentucky farm leaders Thursday he supports federal crop insurance programs but did not say whether he would support the next federal farm bill if he is re-elected to the U.S. Senate.

Paul took questions from the Kentucky Farm Bureau board of directors during the organization's ‘measure the candidates’ forum.

Paul voted against the 2014 farm bill because he said it was too expensive. However, he said he voted against stripping the crop insurance program from the bill and is committed to reforming the immigration program for temporary agriculture workers.

Democratic challenger Jim Gray, has criticized Paul for not voting for the farm bill.
