Paris Schools Consider Replacing Rhea Elementary

By Chris Taylor

Paris, TN – The Paris Special School District is considering a long-term plan to replace the 42-year-old Rhea Elementary School building. The school system has recently come out of almost nine years of debt. Superintendent Mike Brown brought up the issue at a meeting Tuesday, saying although being debt-free is attractive, government entities need debt to be effective. According to the Paris Post Intelligencer, the board would like to construct a new facility without disrupting the newly built pre-Kindergarten building at the site. According to Brown, if officials do not elect to build anew, the current facility would need major upgrades.
