Nationally-known art journalist Pam Carriker presents a road show with her colleague Mary Beth Shaw this weekend at Ephemera Paducah. She speaks with WKMS’s Kate Lochte on the show and her blog, “Art at the Speed of Life.”
Carriker says something that all aspiring artists should know is that no matter how busy you are, there's always time to work on something.
“You don’t have to have big blocks of time to do artwork,” Carriker said.
She says early on in her career, she was contributing to magazines and raising kids, yet she still found a few minutes here and there to fuel her passion for art.
Carriker also her has own paint line with the Matisse Pigment Company; she says she didn't necessarily set out to make her work a business, but after talking with the company on one of their products, the partnership came about.
"My whole sole purpose of that was not to put my name on things that were already out there - I really wanted to focus on thing that I myself wanted to use and wished were available," Carriker said.
