Paducah, KY – Paducah's portable air dome pavilion will be a permanent fixture next to the Julian Carroll Convention Center on North Fourth Street. City officials plan to leave the dome in place year round, making it available for meetings and conventions beyond just April's Quilt Show. Parks Director Mark Thompson tells the Paducah Sun it's better to leave the dome up than to take it down and store it because the wear and tear on moving it is worse than keeping it in place. It's a temporary structure, so according to building codes, it can only be used 180 days of the year. City officials don't expect it to be used more than that.
