The Paducah City Commission will license restaurants, hotels, and motels to sell alcoholic drinks. City Clerk Tammy Sanderson says the commission’s amendment falls more in line with state law and opens alcohol sales to a wider range of businesses.
“So some of your mom and pop shops that don’t have the big restaurants will be able to apply for those licenses and sell distilled spirits, wine and malt beverages,” Sanderson said.
Businesses are required to gross at least fifty percent from food sales to apply for the alcohol permit. New licensing rules go into effect after a newspaper announcement which is expected next week.
