Paducah Launches Its First Annual Citizens' Academy

City of Paducah

The City of Paducah is launching its first annual Citizens’ Academy. The program, named ‘Your Passport to City Government’ is modeled after Paducah’s Citizens Police Academy, and offers participants an in-depth look at how government works.

Public InformationOfficer Pam Spencer says the free, eight-week course will have a different focus each week. Topics include the fire department, engineering and public works and finances.

“We just want that two-way conversation between the citizens and the employees so that we can make sure everybody is understanding what the city is doing and the value of the city’s services and how the city employees are working to create wonderful services for the citizens,” says Spencer.

The group meets Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from March 23 through May 18.If you are interested in participating, please complete the registration form located at www.paducahky.gov/paducah-citizens-academy.  The deadline to register is March 3.  Additional information about each session is located on the website as well.
