Paducah City Manager Resigns

By Angela Hatton

Paducah, KY – Paducah City Manager Jim Zumwalt resigned yesterday afternoon following a five hour closed door meeting with city commissioners. Zumwalt has not yet given a reason for his resignation. He will continue to receive pay and benefits for the next six months. Commissioners had raised concerns a year ago regarding communication issues with the city manager's office. Mayor Bill Paxton continues to express support for the job Zumwalt has done in his twelve years with the city. Officials plan to appoint an interim commissioner in the next few days. They will also launch a national search for a new director.
