Paducah Board of Commissioners Approve 2018 Budget

City of Paducah

The Paducah Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved the 2018 budget-- projecting $34.4 million dollars for the city's General Revenue Fund.  The budget is around $900,000 dollars more than last year’s.

The increase in funds will be generated from property taxes, the business license tax and the payroll tax. The payroll tax is expected to contribute nearly half of the increase. The extra revenue will go towards renovations at Paducah City Hall, the first phase of the enhanced 9-1-1 equipment replacement project,  renovation of the Noble Park tennis courts as well as other projects approved during the monthly meeting.

Commissioners also approved to accept the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant on behalf of Market House Theatre as well as approving to apply for a Bark for Your Park grant through PetSafe to implement irrigation and improve drainage at the Paducah Dog Park. As well as accepting the proposed premiums from the Kentucky League of Cities for Workers’ Compensation, Liability, and Property Insurance coverage.  The total cost of all premiums is $1,129,118.37 and The Convention Center Corporation will reimburse the City $38,464.81 for property coverage of the Convention Centers.
