Many Quilt Week attendees are crowding Paducah's National Quilt Museum to see one of the nation’s most valuable quilts. The piece, called “Innocence”, was made by quilter Hollis Chatelain. Museum Director Frank Bennett said his museum is lucky to showcase the piece.
“This piece is in very high demand,” he said “You know we only have it for a week. It’s in very high demand. In museums of all kinds, not just museums who do quilts. Museums that do art of any kind.”
Appraisers say Chatelain’s quilt is valued at $170,000, one of the most expensive ever appraised. More than 30,000 people are attending the American Quilter's Society's Quilt Week which continues through Saturday.
