Springfield, IL – The Illinois attorney general's office will provide mortgage assistance and consumer information at this year's state fair. This announcement follows a report showing foreclosures spiked in July after a law that had stalled foreclosures expired. Illinois has the eighth highest foreclosure rate in the nation. Attorney General Lisa Madigan says more than 700,000 people attend the state fair each year, making it a good venue to reach people during these tough economic times.
