NWS: Two Rounds of Heavy Rainfall this Week

NOAA Paducah, weather.gov

The west Kentucky region is expected to get two rounds of heavy rainfall this week.

The National Weather Service predicts six to eight inches of rain in the Jackson Purchase and five to seven inches in the Pennyrile.

The first round arrives late Tuesday through Wednesday. The second round is expected Friday into Saturday.

Potential flooding is the main concern, primarily along rivers and tributaries. Flooding may also occur in low-lying areas.

A flood warning is in effect along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. The Ohio is expected to continue to rise through the beginning of March. According to NWS, most points are expected to remain in the minor flood category, however, areas near Paducah and Pulaski County, Illinois, are expected to reach the moderate category.
