Northern Kentucky County Plans Infrastructure In Advance Of $1.3 Billion Mill

A Kentucky county is preparing to expand its infrastructure to accommodate the upcoming $1.3 billion dollar Braidy Industries aluminum rolling mill.

The Daily Independent reports that Greenup County Economic Development Director Bobby Allen explained the county's focus to Russell Rotarians on Thursday.

He said residents could potentially expect 10 to 30 spinoff facilities associated with the mill, which will employ 550 workers.

Allen said that the county is looking at Internet access and cell towers, beyond physical infrastructure like roads and bridges.

He said the county is putting in a new IP-based phone system. He said the county is in contact with hotel chains and would also like to see the opening of additional restaurants.

Allen said the county's dry status has inspired trepidation among some hospitality establishments, and anticipates another alcohol vote.
