New DUI Bill

By Caleb Campbell

Frankfort, KY – People convicted of driving while intoxicated in Kentucky would have to pay for the blood test that proved their intoxication, under a bill sponsored by state representative Steven Rudy. Rudy's measure was approved by the house judiciary committee last week. The western Kentucky Republican says sheriffs or other local governments are billed for the blood tests and that's tough on their budgets. Jerry Wagner is president of the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association.

"It's just something that we feel is an association that is just coming out of our budgets that we could put our money to better use other than paying those bills."

Wagner and Representative Rudy both testified for the bill in front of the judiciary committee.
