1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment "Red Currahee", via Facebook

Nearly 100 soldiers in the 1st Brigade Combat Team known as “Bastogne” in the 101st Airborne Division are returning to Fort Campbell on Friday.

A welcome home ceremony is at 10:30 a.m.

The ‘Red Currahee’ soldiers make up the majority of Task Force Toccoa deployed in northern Cameroon earlier this year. The group is the second iteration of 101st soldiers to participate in the mission. Soldiers conducted base operations security and infrastructure to enhance U.S. relationships in the Cameroon area.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
