Neal Bradley's Racer Football Season Outlook

Kyser Lough, goracers.com

Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and Tracy Ross look back at the first two games of the Racer Football season, preview tomorrow's game at Western Michigan and the upcoming match-up with OVC favorites: Jacksonville State on Sounds Good.

Two games into the season. Murray State beat Union, KY  73-26 and went on the road to Louisville, lost 66-21. Racers expected to outmatch their opponent in Union. A good opener since the team is fairly young and inexperienced. Everything one would want to see in an opener: everyone got to play, lots of players got to play and they rolled convincingly to shorten the fourth quarter. In Louisville, putting up 21 points on the road was not an out and out crushing defeat. Louisville played well, but the Racers set out to win the second half and came out a touchdown short of of a tie.

This Saturday against Western Michigan; Michigan has a great team but historically been not as formidable as Louisville. Neal Bradley says Western Michigan has changed a lot for this season, with one of the best rated recruiting classes in Mid-American Conference football, and improved offensive and defensive lines.

On the 27th, the Racers will begin the OVC season with a home game against Jacksonville State. They are 9th ranked in the nation. This is a good team and a pick to win the OVC. Bradley says that they have this date circled, because last year the Racers went down and beat them. As long as the Racers don't get key injuries, Bradley says, they stack up against anyone in the OVC. They can compete for a championship once they get there so long as they can avoid injuries.
