Neal Bradley Previews the Remaining Racer Basketball Games of 2016

MSU Racer Athletics

The Murray State Racer basketball team won two of their last three games since Tracy Ross and Neal Bradley spoke on Sounds Good. Ross and Bradley recap those games and preview the remaining games in 2016.

The Racers beat Detroit Mercy 86 to 76 on December 3. Bradley says Detroit Mercy is played well aside from their defense. Jonathan Stark had a 27 point game and Terrell Miller had 19 point game.

In Evansville, the Aces topped the Racers 78 to 46. The Racers couldn’t get defensive stops, couldn’t make threes, and had a high turnover rate. Bradley says he hopes this low-scoring game is an anomaly, though he has seen two other Racer teams score poorly and then end the season at the NIT Quarter-finals and the NCAA tournament.

The Racers hosted Bethel and won 103 to 65. Bradley says Bethel’s top scorer was out of the game due to injury. This game was one for the bench guys. Bryce Jones had 20 points, a season high for him, Jachai Taylor had 19 points, and Gilbert Thomas had 12 points. Bradley says he thinks coach Matt McManning  was impressed by what his bench could do.

In Oxford on Thursday, Ole Miss beat the Racers 78 to 73. The Racers next head to Brookings to play South Dakota State, which has one of the to 5 longest home winning streaks. They also play Write State and Brescia this month. And on New Year’s Eve the Racers play their first Conference opponent, the Tennessee State Tigers. Bradley says the Tigers are a good team and he wouldn’t be shocked if they won the Ohio Valley Conference.
