Debra Burgess of Murray is being honored today in Frankfort as she is inducted into the Governor Louie B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame.
Burgess, a San Antonio, Texas, native, has taught at Murray High School from 1980 to 2012 and has been an adjunct instructor at Murray State University since 2011.
Other inductees include Golda Pensol Walbert of Glasgow, Cynthia S. Wooden of Florence.
Gov. Steve Beshear, Western Kentucky University President Gary Ransdell, Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday and other state officials are taking part in the ceremony at the state Capitol.
