Murray State Stuns Vanderbilt in NCAA Opener

By Todd Hatton

San Jose, CA – "He gets it to Miles. Miles takes it to Danero Thomas. Jumper for the win. Goal! It's good, it's good! The Racers win on the jumper by Danero Thomas!"

That's the sound of Forward Danero Thomas hitting a buzzer-beating 15 foot shot that got Murray State past #4 seed Vanderbilt Thursday in an NCAA Tournament opener. It's MSU's first NCAA tournament victory in 24 years.

Coach Billy Kennedy says teamwork and preparation made all the difference. "It was a miracle play," he says, "It was just something I drew at the end of the game; something we've never done before and Isaac Miles made the right play."

Murray State faces Butler University at 2:20pm tomorrow for the second round in San Jose.
