Murray State is one of three Kentucky universities to receive federal funds aimed at improving preschool through twelfth grade (P-12) educator quality.

The Council on Postsecondary Education awards MSU $110,000 dollars for “developing critical thinking skills using science and engineering practices.” Funding will provide professional development for middle school math and science teachers from 15 regional school districts with the goal of developing standards-based units and lessons.

The CPE awarded a total of more than $400,000 dollars for improving P-12 quality. Other schools receiving funds are the University of Kentucky and Morehead State University.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
