Murray State Gets Unusual Assistant Coach

By AP

Murray, KY – Murray State made an unusual hire for an open assistant coaching position - the reigning Ohio Valley Coach of the Year. Racers head coach Billy Kennedy brought former Tennessee-Martin coach Bret Campbell on board after Campbell resigned in June in the wake of a university audit showing he deposited checks from his summer camp in his personal account.

Kennedy says there's no concern by Murray State about Campbell and his resignation. Campbell led Tennessee-Martin to it's first regular season OVC championship last season. Kennedy says Campbell will likely stay on staff for one season, then seek a head coaching position.
