Murray State University basketball player Ja Morant on Monday was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
The league’s sports information directors selected Morant for the weeks starting November 19 and November 26.
Morant is a sophomore from Dalzell, South Carolina. He began last week with a career-high 38 points against Alabama and nine rebounds and five assists. His 16 made shots were the second-highest in a single NCAA men’s game this season. He also scored 25 points against Prairie View last Saturday.
Morant started this week ranked third nationally in scoring with an average of 27.2 points per game. He ranks fourth nationally in assists and sixth in the OVC in rebounding. Last season, Ja Morant was named OVC Freshman of the Week back-to-back. Jonathan Stark last year was named OVC Player of the Week twice consecutively.
