Murray Mayoral Candidates Davis and Rogers Move On, City Council List Narrows

Matt Markgraf, WKMS

The long list of candidates for Murray City Council is narrowed down to 24 people after the primary race Tuesday.

The city council’s passing of the controversial city payroll tax last year led many community members to run for a seat.

In other Murray-Calloway races, current Republican House Representative Kenny Imes defeated Joel Stansberry by a large margin in the GOP primary for Calloway County Judge Executive.

Imes faces Democrat James Gallimore in November. Current Judge Executive Larry Elkins is running for Imes’ fifth district.

Murray mayoral candidates Bob Rogers and Ed Davis defeated Fred Moore and Clifton Darnell and will compete against each other in November.
