Murray-Calloway Pool Opens, Still in Need of Repair

The Murray-Calloway County Pool opened for the summer this weekend even though it is still in need of significant repairs.

Parks Director Tab Brockman said inspectors from Westport Pools determined the pool to be safe for use despite multiple leaks.

“It still has a lot of leaks but it has a significant price tag on it to fix those leaks. So, it’ll have to be a day in time when folks can come up with enough money to make that happen because we’re talking several hundred thousand dollars,” Brockman said.

Park officials were hoping money generated from a failed nickel tax would have provided the funds to fix the pool. Brockman said pool repairs will cost several hundred thousand dollars. He said it’s a problem they are dealing with season to season.
