Murray-Calloway County Parks and Recreation will use a $25,000 Healthy Community Grant to renovate a Central Park ball field.
The money comes from dairy processing company Saputothat also operates a facility in Murray.
The complex’s 40-year-old Field 3 will see new features including an infield drainage system, fresh grass and concrete bleachers. It'll also receive a paved sidewalk to the seating area, making the field handicap-accessible.
The field will be renamed Saputo Field for the next decade.
Renovation work began two weeks ago and should be completed by May 8, opening weekend of the Murray Youth Baseball Softball Association season.
A formal ribbon cutting and field dedication are scheduled that same day.
