Tomorrow night, a resolution to approve a new deal between the city of Murray and Calloway County over emergency extrication services goes before the city council.
Extrication services involve rescuing motorists trapped after an accident.
If approved, the agreement would make the Murray Calloway County Hospital’s EMS the primary extrication provider within both the city and county. The city would also transfer a vehicle and equipment to the EMS.
The proposal comes as the city plans to end its county service provided by the city fire department. The county had paid a $10,000 annual fee for the service. Mayor Jack Rose deemed the fee to small compared to the services $75,000. The city will end the county service on July 15th.
Under the new proposal, the $10,000 previously paid to the MFD will go to the hospital and EMS.
City council members and Rose have declined comment on the new proposal.
The public meeting is tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:30 in City Hall .
