Several government agencies across western Kentucky are set to receive State Homeland Security Grants to help fund emergency management projects.

After reviewing 260 total applicants, the state's Office of Homeland Security will disperse $2.7 million to 117 projects.

That includes equipment like a new rescue boat for Lake Barkley and protective gear for the West Marshall Fire Protection District.

It also covers an ATV for Murray State University that will be used for farmland patrols and inclement weather emergencies.

MSU Interim Chief of Public Safety Roy Dunaway says the $15,000 grant strengthens campus safety as well as the university’s response capabilities.
