MSU's Jackson Enters Guilty Plea

Lance Allison, goracers.com

Murray State University basketball player Zaveral “Zay” Jackson pled guilty Friday to two wanton endangerment charges. Jackson was originally charged with assault for hitting two people with his car after an altercation in the Murray Walmart parking lot. Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship says Jackson must serve 30 days in jail, attend anger management classes and pay restitution for the victim’s medical bills. Blankenship adds Jackson must also issue an apology, and speak to youth groups about his mistake. Blankenship says because Jackson is a first time offender, the deal allows the charges to drop off Jackson’s permanent record after four years, or when he graduates from Murray State. Blankenship says Jackson’s basketball career did not influence the plea deal. It is unclear whether he will play again. Friday afternoon Athletic Department spokesman Dave Winder said Jackson remains suspended from all team activities.
