A Murray State University football player is suspended after being arrested for a string of out-of-state burglaries.
According to MSU Athletics, Racers running back Roman Clay, 20, is suspended from all team-related activities while he faces charges in his hometown of Millersville, Pennsylvania.
According to the Lancaster County, PA, District Attorney's Office, Clay was arrested Thursday while home for the holiday break. He is charged with five counts of felony burglary and an additional count of loitering and prowling at night.
The charges stem from crimes at separate Millersville University student apartment complexes on New Years’ Day.

Several students reported having cash, wallets and other valuables stolen from their unlocked apartments. Police received these reports over a few days. Five burglary victims from five separate addresses were identified. The misdemeanor prowling charge regards Clay going door-to-door in the complex checking for unlocked units. All but one of the apartments were occupied by sleeping individuals. Several occupants awoke and discovered an individual inside their apartment; at least two of those occupants spoke to the intruder. Video surveillance footage at the complex was of great assistance in identifying a vehicle involved in the burglaries. That information led to Clay.
“I was extremely disappointed to hear about the charges against Roman,” said head football coach Mitch Stewart. “If true, these actions go against not only our values as a football team, but also against those of the entire Murray State community.”
Clay's suspension remains in effect pending the outcome of the legal proceedings and the department’s own internal assessment.
