From NPR: Princeton alumna Susan Patton has received a lot of backlash about her Daily Princetonianletter advising women at the university to hunt for their husband while attending class.
Many students say her letter wasn’t helpful and that conversations about finding an intellectual equal were already happening on campus. But their moms are sending Patton letters thanking her for saying what they wish they had the guts to tell their daughters.
Kentucky: The federal government is giving Daviess County a $2.5 million grant to help combat child abuse.
Tennessee: Gov. Bill Haslam has yanked his school voucher proposal because legislators wanted to expand it. Legislation that would allow some teachers to go to school armed has Haslam’s backing. Even though the governor has reservations about a measure that would link a family’s welfare benefits to student performance, a House committee has approved the proposal.
Illinois: Some child advocacy groups support Gov. Pat Quinn’s plan to close corporate tax loopholes.
