Metropolis Mayor to Name Alderman Successor Later

Metropolis, IL – Metropolis, Illinois Mayor Billy McDaniel says he may take his time naming a successor to Ward 1 Alderman Richard Corzine, who passed away May 31. Seven would-be appointees have come forward for consideration including Corzine's daughter, Kim Corzine Brown, a Metropolis restaurant manager, and Antoine Hutcheson, who narrowly lost to Corzine in last April's election. McDaniel says Brown and Hutcheson have publicly announced their requests to be appointed, while the five others approached him privately. City codes call for McDaniel to name a replacement within sixty days.
