Metropolis Business Association Organizing

Metropolis, IL – Two local business owners are working to establish a business association in Metropolis. Paula and David Turner, who operate a bed and breakfast, have sent letters to 215 businesses inviting them to join. Paula Turner says the goal is to revitalize the town and bring in more industry and tourism. The Turners are modeling their idea off of Naperville, IL, a city just south of Chicago, which in the early eighties raised money for a riverfront walk. The development encouraged more businesses to move downtown and brought in an influx of tourists. A Metropolis Business Association organizational meeting is scheduled for September 3. Mrs. Turner says they hope to have 100 supporting businesses to raise project interest at the September 14 city council meeting.
