Merryman House to Expand to Former McCracken Co School Building

After months of fundraising, Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center will purchase and expand into the former McCracken County School Board property in Paducah.

The nonprofit is partnering with regional behavioral health care provider Mountain Comprehensive Care to finance the deal.

Merryman House Executive Director Mary Foley says the new facility will provide residential substance abuse treatment for women.

“We are able to take that greater campus and that greater vision for a coordinated response to trauma and to the folks that certainly do need a comprehensive response,” Foley said. “And we will begin to be able to offer those on site.”

Under the partnership, half the funds to complete the property acquisition would come from MCC, while Merryman House would match the rest.

Thursday night, the McCracken County School Board voted to extend the deal deadline to allow both parties time to complete financing.

In November, Merryman House received a $540,000 grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank program to renovate the new property.
