Media Release: Left of the Dial Debuts on WKMS-FM

WKMS

Murray, KY- A new locally produced music program, Left of the Dial, debuts on Murray State University’s listener supported public radio service WKMS Friday, August 21 at 9 p.m.

Producer and host John Null says “the show is rooted in the underground music scene of the 1980s.” Artists like The Smiths, The Replacements, The Cure, New Order, David Bowie and Depeche Mode form the substratum of Left of the Dial. There will also be ‘70s punk and glam and an occasional jaunt into the contemporary. There are special episodes already brewing, like an all-movie soundtrack edition and an eerie Halloween playlist.

Program Director Tracy Ross adds, "Left Of The Dial fills a void in our program schedule, because John celebrates the 1980s in all their synthesizer-drenched glory. This is his favorite music, and he knows it inside-and-out."

Null joined the WKMS staff as a Murray State University student news intern in 2013, and has continued reporting since graduation. He is also the local host of All Things Considered Friday afternoons. Tune in for Left of the Dial Friday nights from 9 to 11 p.m. after World Café.

WKMS broadcasts a continuous, comprehensive mix of news and music, with stations including 91.3 WKMS-FM, WKMS HD-1 and All-Music HD-2, Murray; 90.9 WKMD, WKMD HD-1 and HD-2, Madisonville; 89.5 WKMT, Fulton; and All-Classical 92.5 Paducah, 88.9 Murray and 105.1 Madisonville. WKMS also streams both its News and All Classical channels online at wkms.org, a robust website offering playlists, regional news and an online contribution page. For more call 1-800-599-4737.
