Paducah, KY – McCracken Emergency Officials say a technical problem is to blame for the county's warning sirens going off some twenty minutes late during the statewide test earlier this month. 911 Director Jamey Spears says an operator's computer locked up when the sirens were supposed to go off. He explains the supervisor on duty wasn't able to help immediately because she was busy at that time sending emergency responders to a traffic wreck involving a trapped victim and possible fire. The Paducah Sun reports the sirens were eventually set off by a rescue squad member from a remote location.
