McCracken County School officials are exploring a district-wide policy regarding school uniforms.
Jayme Jones, Public Relations Director, said school board members and principals held a work session on the topic this week. She says the next step will be opening up the discussion to community members. She cites some reasons for the potential change.
“This would allow all students to all be on the same playing field,” said Jones. This creates an environment where they aren’t having to worry about dress code.”
According to an article by The Paducah Sun school board members were most concerned with cost of the uniform and enforcing it at the high school level.
McCracken County High School Principal Michael Ceglinski said it would take several years to become routine but if it passed they would follow suit.
Jones says Community forums have not been scheduled at this time. The Kentucky Department of Education doesn’t keep track of public schools with uniform policies.
