McConnell Reacts to Obama
By Rick Howlett
Frankfort, KY – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is pledging speedy confirmation of President-Elect Barack Obama's Cabinet choices. He told reporters in a conference call Wednesday that he believes Obama will present qualified candidates for the positions and the Senate will confirm them as rapidly as possible. McConnell called Obama a person that's "easy to like" but says he otherwise doesn't know him very well.
"I think he's certainly an impressive individual, he ran a great race and I intend to have a good relationship with him."
McConnell says he doesn't expect any challenge to his position as Senate Minority Leader following GOP losses in Tuesday's election.
